Nick, Jim, Simon and Mark get together once more to talk about more WWDC stuff basically – there was so much news, so much stuff, and so many changes ahead that we are probably going to all be talking about it for months. Still better than having nothing to talk about.
Apple CarKey became official at WWDC 2020 but the list of devices compatible might surprise you. The Apple Watch Series 4 is near identical to the Series 5 but omit’s CarKey features. Watch on (pardon the pun) to see what devices are compatible with Apple CarKey.
Fingers crossed that Tesla will support Apple CarKey someday.
Is your Mac compatible with the latest Apple desktop OS Big Sur? Will you be upgrading your hardware if it doesn’t meet the compatibility list or wait it out to see what the price of Apple Silicon will be? Leave a comment on our YouTube channel.
Simon, Mark and Jim are joined by the wonderful Kelly Guimont of The Mac Observer to talk about WWDC 2020 and what it all means. In the usual Essential Apple manner we don’t talk about WWDC so much as get into a conversation about a variety of things that WWDC kind of made our addled brains think about…

If you are new the the world of podcasting or looking to record audio for a Youtube review and don’t quite understand compressors, equalisers and how to get your audio levels to sound the same there’s good news in the form of Levelator.
Having laid dormant as of the end of 2012, the Levelator program was abandoned apart from an update to get it working with El Capitan. Rather than try to explain what Levelator does here’s the blurb from the website.
So what is The Levelator®? It’s software that adjusts the audio levels within your podcast or other audio file for variations from one speaker to the next, for example. It’s not a compressor, normalizer or limiter although it contains all three. It’s much more than those tools, and it’s much simpler to use. The UI is dirt-simple: Drag-and-drop any WAV or AIFF file onto The Leveler’s application window, and a few moments later you’ll find a new version which just sounds better.
The second part of the previous show where Simon, Nick and Jim carry on and take a look at some of the other news of the week.

This week another unstructured show as Mark, Nick, Jim and I are joined by Jeff Gamet. To be honest we didn’t so much record a show as just start chatting and went with it – and actually quite a lot of it isn’t about tech at all. In this first part it is mostly about music (hence the title).

This week whilst the US is wracked with unrest over the death of George Floyd, and institutional racism, we have a bit of a different sort of show to the usual to hopefully cheer us up. Nick, Jim and I are joined by veteran British podcaster Will Green of the British Mac Podcast and just let the conversation wander where it will – taking in Amazon during lockdown, Will’s new Macs, DDNS, a fez, pipe smoking and much more. We hope you enjoy the change of pace. No real notes or chapters this week just a conversation with Will.
