If two musicals about Steve Jobs seems like one or two too many you’ve got one less with which to contend, Variety reports that “Nerds” a musical about Steve Jobs and Bill Gates is no longer headed to Broadway. If a Steve Jobs musical was going to make it it feels like it should’ve been this one.

Written by Jordan Allen Dutton and Eric Weiner both of whom previously worked on Cartoon Network’s Robot chicken Nerds was first staged in 2005 by the Philadelphia theater company. The musical comedy won multiple awards and enjoyed the limited engagement at the North Carolina theater.

So what happened? What always happens money the piece says one of the shows financial backers backed out that prompted show producer Carl Levin’s statement;

on behalf of my fellow producers and investors it is with great disappointment that we will be postponing the Broadway opening of Nerds due to the loss of a major investor..

Whether Nerds ever makes it there is still a musical treatment of jobs life as long as your goal going off Broadway the rock musical the crazy ones is set to debut in New York on 15 March
