UK shows off prototype of digital iPhone driving license using Apple’s Wallet app
Apple’s Wallet app on iOS is currently used to store Apple Pay credit cards and debit cards, as well things like boarding passes, tickets, and rewards cards. It appears that the UK government is working with Apple’s Wallet APIs to allow users to store their driver’s license alongside their other cards already in the app.

Easy jet jet to start selling smart sneakers
They’ll use your smartphone’s GPS to help you navigate around the city (you’re presumably visiting after being on one of their flights) by vibrating the shoe, telling you to which way to turn. Nothing says I’m a tourist and mug me than a set of orange sneakers.

Apple Invests $1 Billion in Uber’s Asian Rival Didi
Apple Inc said on Thursday it has invested $1 billion in Chinese ride-hailing service Didi Chuxing, a move that Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook said would help the company better understand the critical Chinese market.

“Didi currently offers a variety of transportation services in China, including taxi and private car hailing, designated drivers and peer-to-peer products like ride-sharing. In February, The Wall Street Journal reported the Chinese firm was looking to raise a total of $1 billion from investors in a bid to compete against global ride sharing technology powerhouse Uber”**

All this after Apple lost their trademark to the iPhone in the Chinese market.

BBC set to launch subscription Netflix rival
The BBC is to push ahead with plans to launch a British rival to Netflix, after getting the go-ahead from the government to develop a new subscription streaming service.

Rumor Has Tim Cook in India This Week
Traveling Tim. If you’re wondering where Apple’s globetrotting CEO is likely to be seen next, reports say he could be in India as early as today.

Business Insider had the Economic Times and the site Factor Daily saying that Apple plans to announce an accelerated program for Indian startups this week.

Meanwhile, Reuters says Cook will be meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the rumored trip as well. Apple has offered no comment about the trip so far.
