What Mac’s are supported by macOS Golden Gate
To run macOS 27 Golden Gate, your Mac will need to have an Apple silicon chip, such as an M-series chip or the A18 Pro chip found in the MacBook Neo. This means that macOS 27 is not compatible with Intel-based Macs.
Compatible Macs include:
- MacBook Neo
- MacBook Air with Apple silicon (2020 and later)
- MacBook Pro with Apple silicon (2020 and later)
- iMac with Apple silicon (2021 and later)
- Mac mini with Apple silicon (2020 and later)
- Mac Studio with Apple silicon (2022 and later)
- Mac Pro with Apple silicon (2023 and later)
The following Intel-based Macs will not support macOS 27 Golden Gate: the 13-inch MacBook Pro (2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports), the 16-inch MacBook Pro, the 27-inch iMac, and the Mac Pro.
While Intel Macs will continue to receive security updates for three years, macOS Tahoe was the final version of macOS they could run. Additionally, some advanced Apple Intelligence features, such as improved dictation and custom Siri voices, require an M3 chip or later and at least 12GB of RAM for more on-device processing.
