At WWDC 2015, Apple announced that Apple Pay will launch in the UK in July 2015 and a number of banks have already been confirmed as launch partners for the service which will be available in the soon-to-be renamed Wallet app, which is currently called ‘Passbook’.

The service will only be available on the latest Apple devices, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ due to the NFC and fingerprint requirements. The service will also work with the new Apple Watch.

Bank of Scotland: A statement from owner Lloyds group says it expects to launch the service for its customers in autumn.

Barclays: Not a launch partner nor a listed partner under Apple’s ‘coming soon’ list.

Co-operative Bank: Not a launch partner nor a listed partner under Apple’s ‘coming soon’ list.

Coutts: Bank says it will “offer clients access to Apple Pay … when it launches in the UK”.

First Direct: Launch partner which should offer the service from launch in July 2015.

Halifax: A statement from owner Lloyds group says it expects to launch the service for its customers in autumn.

“We are delighted to offer Apple Pay in the UK and look forward to providing this service to our Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland personal customers later this year. The way consumers fulfil their banking needs is changing in the UK, as our customers want to bank and transact on the go – offering Apple Pay utilises the latest technology to respond to this ever increasing demand.”
