by Apple’s done a 4K software giving iMovie for Mac a significant update bringing with it 4K supports and support for full 1080 P HD videos at 60 frames per second.
Other features in the update notes from Apple include the ability to import movies and trailers from iMovie for iOS so users can start editing on iOS device and finish on a Mac.
A redesigned media viewer, a new project view tabs in the browser that give users faster access to titles backgrounds transitions and music while editing, the option to hide the browser while editing, 10 additional video filters for iMovie for iOS and users get the ability to view pixel for pixel 4K video while editing a movie on an iMac with a retina 5K display.
Here’s the weird thing. You can only view pixel for pixel 4K video on a 5K display. Editing 4K video in full resolution would take up the pixel real estate of the entire screen editing. On a 5K iMac however allows you to edit and view the full pixel for pixel resolution of the video because of the extra real estate afforded by 5K versus 4K iMovie.
10.1 is a free update for existing iMovie customers the run new buyers $14.99 and is available in the Mac App Store
