After finally getting confirmation that my iPhone 5 is on it’s way and following the tracking link, the Apple store has a fitting tribute to Steve Jobs, 1 year on. Could you name any other company rivalling Apple for size that would simply stop taking sales in memorandum?
A message from Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
Steve’s passing one year ago today was a sad and difficult time for us all. I hope that today everyone will reflect on his extraordinary life and the many ways he made the world a better place.
One of the greatest gifts Steve due to the world is Apple. No company has ever inspired such creativity or set such high standards for itself. Values originated from Steve and his spirits will for ever be the foundation of Apple. We show the great privilege and responsibility of carrying his legacy into the future.
I’m incredibly proud of the work we are doing, delivering products to our customers love I’m dreaming up new ones that will delight them down the road. It are wonderful tribute to Steve’s memory and everything he stood for.
Tim
Since the passing away of Steve Jobs books claiming to interview the man himeself and have “inner knowledge of the workings at Apple” have come to light. At best these books full are anecdotes such as Haunted Empire, dismissed by Tim Cook as.
This nonsense belongs with some of the other books I’ve read about Apple. It fails to capture Apple, Steve, or anyone else in the company. Apple has over 85,000 employees that come to work each day to do their best work, to create the world’s best products, to put their mark in the universe and leave it better than they found it. This has been the heart of Apple from day one and will remain at the heart for decades to come. I am very confident about our future. We’ve always had many doubters in our history. They only make us stronger.

More popular and somewhat less controversial than a ex Wall Street Journal hawking her ways in the typical “Apple Is Doomed” fashioned is Walter Issacson’s offering. An interesting read but if you followed Steve with even the remotest of interest there might not be lot of fresh information here for you.

Haunted Empire: Apple After Steve Jobs comes from an ex WSJ reporter Yukari Kane. Before the release of the book the WSJ published extracts
Seth Weintraub, reviewing Haunted Empire:
The book concludes exactly how it has been prepared to conclude (sorry, no surprise ending). Apple is in a free fall (increasing sales numbers notwithstanding).etc etc
