Not sure about anyone here but when a CEO of soemone like Microsoft first says “there’s nothing interesting to report” you’d think someone would give Steve Ballmer a nudge and say “you kinda need to shut up or at least take PR lesson”. Not Ballmer, today he drops another precious PR bomb with tablet Surface “are starting modestly,” Updated
When asked about supply shortages of Surface, Mr. Ballmer said: “It’s a good sign,” adding that Microsoft “will fix this problem quickly” and that the increase in capacity is part of the company’s strategy.

My issue is here is how do people really feel about the Surface? Look online and you can find discounts all over the place, special promotions in shops, pretty much everything that Samsung will do. Does Apple do any of that.. Nope and they still manage to sell out.
I wonder if Microsoft are being that clever and being very hush, hush and then go we sold more than apple but this was below our expectations. Expectations which have never been released.
Well microsoft have been quick of the mark about this press bite that’s heading all over the web.
Microsoft’s statement said:
When asked about Surface, Steve’s use of the term “modest” was in relation to the company’s approach in ramping up supply and distribution of Surface with Windows RT, which has only been available via our online store and Microsoft retail and holiday stores in the U.S. and Canada. While our approach has been modest, Steve notes the reception to the device has been “fantastic” which is why he also stated that “soon, it will be available in more countries and in more stores.”
Ballmer really hasn’t got this PR stuff down yet has he?
