T-mobile in the USA have dropped a pretty big bomb in the world of Mobile announcing that popular streaming platforms wont count against your data usage. The new plan is called “Binge On” and will be available from November 15th.

With Binge On™ and a qualifying rate plan, watch unlimited video without hitting your data bucket. Services include:

Netflix
HBO NOW
HBO GO
Hulu
Sling TV
Sling Box
ESPN
Showtime
Starz
Movieplex
Encore
T-Mobile TV
Vevo
Vessel
Univision Deportes
Major League Baseball
Go90
DirecTV
Fox Sports
Fox Sports GO
NBC Sports
Crackle
VUDU
Ustream

You may still need to subscribe to the services and pay some of your hard earned cash but it’s nice to know you can be on the bus, train or anywhere with a decent data connection and indulge in your video viewing habbits.

“Powered by new technology built in to T-Mobile’s network, Binge On optimizes video for mobile screens, minimizing data consumption while still delivering DVD or better quality (e.g. 480p or better),”

the company said.

“That means more reliable streaming for services that stream free with Binge On, and for almost all other video it means T-Mobile Simple Choice customers can watch up to three times more video from their data plan.”

The list of music streaming services included as FREE usage against data plans so far includes.

Apple Music
Pandora
iHeartRadio
Rhapsody
Beatport
Spotify
Slacker
Radical.FM
8tracks
Samsung Milk Music
Black Planet
Songza
Rdio
Radio Paradise
AccuRadio
SoundCloud
Saavn
Digitally Imported
JAZZRADIO.com
ROCKRADIO.com
RadioTunes
radioPup
radio.com
Mad Genius Radio
Groove Music
Live365
Fresca Radio
Google Music
Fit Radio
SiriusXM
Tidal Music
MixRadio
BandCamp

At first thoughts this might sound bonkers but what if T-Mobile were capping data usage speed for these services, just enough to give a great experience but also managing their networks at the same time.

Update
ArsTechnica has an article saying that video will be capped at 480p
