Big news for 4G iPhone users in the uk. Three UK plans to separate itself from its competitors by charging £12 (~$19) per month on a rolling one-month contract. 4g will be part of their standard service and not a seperate offering like EE, Orange and T-mobile
Three UK today announced that it’s bringing 4G LTE service to its existing customers at no extra charge. The 4G network will run on newly acquired 1800MHz spectrum later this year, and if subscribers are using the right handset, they will get the LTE upgrade as standard.
The company is joining EE as the only two cellular providers to offer 4G LTE in the UK. Interestingly, Three UK plans to separate itself from its competitors by charging £12 (~$19) per month on a rolling one-month contract. This effective and aggressive pricing scheme is an excellent way to grab some customers away from EE, as the company doesn’t currently offer an unlimited 4G data option of its own at the moment.
Unfortunately, Three UK didn’t give any details to when it planned to roll out its LTE service in 2013. The 1800MHz spectrum it purchased from EE still has to be finalized — all indications point to September.

We’ve already started upgrading our network from fast to Ultrafast with a technology called DC-HSDPA, which is more than five times as fast as a basic 3G connection. This means you may be able to get access to Ultrafast benefits right now, like better browsing, downloading and streaming speeds.
New network technology is now coming to the UK. We’re part of that and will be putting LTE, which is considered 4G in this country, into our network in 2013.
All this technology already on our network means if you’ve got a device compatible with Ultrafast speeds, you’ll be able to really get the best out of it on our network.
