Time for another update in the Apple v Samsung wars but this time it seems to be a more positive note. Samsung appear to have taken steps to calm down the legal wranglings between both parties by dropping a series of patent infringement suits against its bitter rival in nations across Europe.
The giant Korean mobile phone maker has announced its intention to drop numerous lawsuits against Apple in Europe-based nations including Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
On the other side of this coin, Apple’s request to have no less than 26 Samsung devices banned in the USA has been thrown own although these 2 news bit’s don’t appear connected.
Samsung Commented :
We strongly believe it is better when companies compete fairly in the marketplace, rather than in court. In this spirit, Samsung has decided to withdraw our injunction requests against Apple.. in the interest of protecting consumer choice.
This got me wondering if Samsung have some of their own bright ideas and have moved on from the copying Apple strategy. Samsung has been disruptive in all markets they’ve chosen to enter, TV, mobile, appliances you’d be hard press to visit any electrical outlet without seeing a Samsung Logo
On a side note products like gesture controlled TV seem like an open ended beta test but that’s just a theory.
Both companies are still reliant on each other right now but with Apple looking to take away manufacturing from Samsung heading to Taiwanese Semi Conductor fab plants and a possible Mac Pro facility in the USA, there’s more to this than meets the eye.
