Spotify CEO Daniel Ek announced today that his company now has 30 million paid subscribers that’s an increase of 10 million since June 2015.

In the same period of time Apple Music has managed to pick up 11 million paid subscribers of it’s own.

Both companies have endured a fair amount of pressure from other services, even if companies like Tidal never really did take off as the marketing hype would have us believe.

Spotify has been branching out in an attempt to keep it’s subscriber based growing. Just recently Runkeeper ditched their own Runkeeper DJ service for Spotify intergration.

You could argue that Spotify’s growth is disapointing given just how available it is compared to the locked down system which is Apple Music.
