How To Disable IR On Your iMac (Lion)

This was driving me nuts just the other day seeing as Apple TV is just about replacing my windows media centre.  Every freaking time I pressed pause or play on the apple tv remote it would fire up something within iTunes.  The option is nestled away but here’s how you stop your remote interfering with the Macbook or iMac

Head into system preferences

Click on Security and Privacy

Click advanced to get to the hidden disable remote control infra red receiver.  You might have to authenticate via the lock on the right to get the advanced button to become active.

And there you have it.  No longer will the Apple remote interfere with your Mac.
