Apple employees have a new reason to stick around stock late last week Apple CEO Tim Cook debuted a new restricted stock units grant program open to all employees of the Cupertino company.
The new program goes beyond the existing employee stock purchase plan currently available to all employees and optionally grants employees at all levels and areas of the company including non-executives and retail workers small amounts of restricted stock units small stock grants intended to help retain the valuable workers writing the program to employees.
Apple CEO said it’s designed to reach employees who were not previously eligible including many in our amazing retail and AppleCare teams.
“This year, I’m excited to let you know that the Executive Team has created a new program for stock ownership through RSU grants,” Cook said. “It’s designed to reach employees who were not previously eligible, including many in our amazing retail and AppleCare teams. This new program extends eligibility to everyone not covered by other RSU programs, effectively making everyone who works at Apple eligible for an RSU grant. This is an unusual step, and very special – just like our team.”

Whilst Cook spins the RSU program as a vote of confidence in Apple’s employees fortunes go about Dewit sees it as a vote of confidence in Apple’s own shares as well.
