Is This The Apple Budget iPhone : Leaked Photo

The best potential fakes are the ones that look almost plausible but I’m not sure about this.  Apple has spent a lot of time and effort moving away from the white plastic laptops so releasing a phone that looks similar seems a bit odd to me.

Apple Budget iPhone Is This The Apple Budget iPhone : Leaked Photo

This photo comes courtesouy of Case-maker Tactus claiming this iPhone has a Polycarbonate body to help reduce on production costs. His source is apparantly a factory providing parts for Apple.

With two separate buttons for volume control and the inclusion of an LED flash this to me seems more like an iPhone 3gs re imagined.

You have to admire the internet, when there’s nothing to talk about.. just make it up

TouchNote Postcard Arrives. (TouchNote Review Follow Up)

Back on the 10th April I reviewed The Touchnote Postcard App. A way to send personalised postcards or cards from your iPhone to anywhere in the world. Well today the card I made in on my phone in the UK arrived in Portugal. Ordered on late on a Wednesday afternoon it arrived in Lagos on Monday (15th April). That’s impressive but what’s the quality of the card like?

Sonnet Echo 15 Thunderbolt Dock, It’s ugly but more ports than you can shake a stick at.

In what could be the ultimate in Thunderbolt docks, Sonnets Echo 15 includes Four USB 3.0 Ports, Four SATA Ports, Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire® 800, Pass-Through Thunderbolt Port, Optical Disc Drive, and 2.5/3.5-Inch Internal Drive Bay. Just a shame it’s as ugly as sin.

Leadtools OCR for iOS

Leadtools OCR tools. Offline OCR scanning for iOS.

OCR is a handy tool to have in the reviewers arsenal. Leadtools OCR tools is a handy way to grab text from an image, screen cap or anything so you don’t have to re type what’s already been typed. A valuable timesaver in so many way but only if it works (hence this review). Similar ocr app use online recognition processing, sending the image off and then emailing results. It seems that capping of speeds is coming back to the Full Monty Package. 3.8mb down and 1.2mb up. That being said it’s more than zippy enough for most needs and even tho it’s touted as unlimited data there is an * with a terms and conditions apply. Quite how companies still say unlimited and get away with it is beyond me.

Does T-Mobile Cover My Area?

If you need to check signal in your area you could check number of masts in your area using Sitefinder. I was a bit sceptical of T-Mobile until I checked sitefinder

john-browett

John Browett Says He “Just Didn’t Fit” At Apple. Wow.. Thats a surprise…

John Browett, who worked briefly at Apple as head-of-retail, was recently interviewed at the Retail Week Live conference. He commented on his experience working at Apple, and even admitted that he “just didn’t fit” with the company.

Browett seemed an unusual choice as he was previously the boss of Dixons, a UK consumer electronics chain. He had a reputation for cost-cutting rather than customer service but Tim Cook described him as the best candidate. As it turned out, Browett left Apple after less than a year before he found a new role as CEO of a low-cost UK fashion and accessory retailer.

In his interview at Retail Week Live, Browett says that he learned humility and has since become a kinder person as a result of working at Apple during those six months. He also admitted that he “just didn’t fit” with Apple and the way it ran its business. He said:

“Apple is a truly fantastic business. The people are great, they’ve got great products, it’s got a great culture and I loved working there, it’s a fantastic business. The issue there was that I just didn’t fit within the way they run the business. It was one of those things where you’re rejected for fit rather than competency.”

Browett apparently angered Apple workers by cutting staff and working hours within stores, but said that working at Apple was “probably the best thing that happened to me. It made things clear about how I am and what I am like to work with, and it will make me much better at my job in the future.”

Apple has yet to replace Browett. In the meantime, the company’s retail team is reporting directly to Tim Cook.
