And finally today speaking of museums Apple is putting some of its money where the Met is Apple insider says the Cupertino company will sponsor the 20 16th Met Gala the 2016 theme “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,”
It’ll see Apple sponsor both the Gala and the accompanying exhibition that the piece says will explore the co-mingling of fashion and technology.
If only they’d come up with a title that. Apple design chief Johnny I will be on hand the host as a cochair alongside actor Idris Elba pop star Taylor Swift and editor of Vogue magazine Anna Wintour
“Traditionally, the distinction between the haute couture and prêt-à-porter was based on the handmade and the machine-made,” said Andrew Bolton, curator of the Costume Institute. “But recently this distinction has become increasingly blurred as both disciplines have embraced the practices and techniques of the other.”
With both Johnny Ive and Idris Elba at the same event at the same time makes me think I really should be at the Met Gala. If anyone wants to use me and their plus one I’d be more than happy to tag along.
Given Apple’s recent interest in fashion, next year’s event is a perfect venue for the company to gain greater exposure to industry elite. Retail head #Angela Ahrendts, who joined the company in 2014, comes from that world, most recently working as CEO of Burberry.
