by Microsoft has pushed out a new update for the iOS Skype application and it brings along, a new calling experience, the ability to mark your recent chats as read with a few taps, one-to-one chats now appear in the correct order and of course, general fixes and improvements.
For Microsoft, Skype is a pivotal part of the company’s software platform going forward as it looks to position Skype as its premier tool for communication. In addition to standard VOIP calls, Microsoft is also killing off MSN messenger in favor of Skype too.
One bug that is not specifically addressed but we hope to see fixed in the near future is the cross-platform chat synchronization. If you have ever used Skype on a mobile device, then logged into your desktop client, you will experience the annoyance of all of your recent chats being synced with new notifications. We would love to see that process moved to the background and have it be less obtrusive as we move from platform to platform.
