Some of the best iPad Data Plans Compared

Recently in the podcast I had a good old rant about the lack of proper information when people simply state the new iPad is a data chewer.  In the UK we won’t be getting anything like LTE (4g) internet at least until the latter end of 2013.

With that in mind we’ve gone through some of the most popular mobile providers in the uk to compare their data tarrifs to help you understand the deals out there.

Review – Bartending : Memoirs of an Apple Genius (what life at Apple is really like)

Bartending : Memoirs of an Apple Genius promises to give an insiders look as to what life is like behind the glass panelled buildings of Apple from the perspective of Stephen, an ex genius bar apple staffer, who’s written a book on working the front line. I’m taking a sneak peek at a few chapters now and it’s an insightful look. There’s not much more I can say yet as I’m under NDA till release date of the 10th April.  Good news everyone the NDA has been lifted so discussion is now allowed.

Blackberry-maker RIM admits defeat. “Focussing on business customers”

20120330 120109 Blackberry maker RIM admits defeat. Focussing on business customers

The company that makes Blackberry smart phones says it is withdrawing from the consumer market to concentrate on business customers.

Source : BBC News

Gracious in defeat
. Although somewhat odd just after they launched a high end consumer product in Harrods 6 days ago source : crackberry. Strikes me as a company that’s long been at odds with itself, never taking the Bold move (pardon the pun) to find its own direction in the consumer market.

According to figures in the last quarter rim shipped 11.1 million units but at 30% or more less than the panned average selling price (ASP). Apple in the same time shipped 37.04 million iPhones (source : cnet without having to slash prices.

How did “warm” become “hot” become “overheat”?

I might have lifted that comment from a profilic iPad jailbreaker @chpwn which is odd as we barely cover anything jailbreakesq but it’s true. It’s made even more so by the fact that the people over at Wired.com have put the “overheating” iPad 3 in perspective amongst several other tech sites.

iPad 3 Temperatues How did warm become hot become overheat?

So in the wake of all these claims that the new iPad will burn your childern and act as a “Penis Iron” I decided to do some very unscientific journalism.  My first stop was Google where I did a very quick search to ask “What temperature does skin starts to burn at.”

Spire PowerCube Review Intro

Spire PowerCube ITX Case SPM210B

Spire PowerCube Review IntroThe ITX case market is a funny old beast in fact the whole iTX area is. It seems to sit as a awkward relative in the PC world trying to fit in where for the most it’s all about power and not so much efficient computing.

As most people reading this are aware the whole PC market is based on numbers, normally the bigger the better.  So the iTX motherboard market sits there quietly doing it’s thing in the HTPC world getting the odd half thought out case, whereas in other sectors of the case market you are inundated with a choice of cases, styles and colours to suit pretty much every taste.

So with the market being relatively quite in the age of towers and mini towers let’s have a look at something smaller.

Nuance Dragon Express Review : A week of talking to the Mac

It is fair to say I’m a huge fan of speech recognition software especially when it works. The sheer amount of time and effort that can be saved with a decent bit of voice recognition kit is unbelievable. As a fan of Dragon Dictate for the Mac platform I’ve been waiting for ages to get my chance to review Dragon Express and finally that day has come.

Dragon Express Window Nuance Dragon Express Review : A week of talking to the Mac

Is the App store offering, retailing at half the price of its bigger brother, actually any good?  We put Dragon Express for the Mac through some rather tough tests and see how well it intergrates with the daily routine. During the testing period we went between singing the praises of the Dragon Express to sheer and utter frustration
