Apple just reported the most profitable year of any company ever

Apple today posted its earnings for the final quarter of 2012, which was “disappointingly” the largest corporate earnings year in human history by a tidy margin, causing many investors to panic as Apple clearly circles the drain in what will be the first step in a short road to the demise of the most valuable company in the world (If Exxon hasn’t indeed surpassed it tomorrow morning).

Apple’s 13.1B in earnings this quarter was the 4th largest of all time according to the same metric.

Apple’s iOS 6 vs. Android Jelly Bean

In the world of mobile operating systems, two platforms stand head and shoulders above the rest: Android and iOS. Traditionally, Apple’s iOS has always had a distinct advantage over Google’s Android. Compared to early versions of Android, iOS was more intuitive, smoother, less buggy, and just an all-round better piece of software; however, with every new version, Google has been able to close the gap. When 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was released, Android showed the world an operating system that was every bit as good as iOS 5, now with version 4.1 Jelly Bean upon us, the Google-owned OS has taken things to the next level, surpassing what was offered on the iPhone 4S. Never one to be outdone though, Apple has unveiled the iPhone 5 with iOS 6 with a various improvements and upgrades from their earlier operating system. Both OS’s are undoubtedly great, but which one is the best?

Samsung Swipeit

Samsung Swipeit to Rival Apple Airplay

Samsung are set to announce their “Swipeit” android product at this years CES. Swipeit is an Android app that allows and Samsung Internet and Swipeit enabled tv’s to show the content from your phone, on the larger screen. Does this sound familiar?

I’m loving the name Swipeit as that’s what they tend to do with Apple product design but now it seems airplay.

Siri Double Data Usage

Bloomberg : Apple’s Siri Feature Doubles IPhone Data Usage

According to a somewhat vauge report at Bloomberg, iPhone 4s phone users consume double the data of iPhone 4 users thanks, mainly, to Siri.

Network analyst Arieso claims that the voice navigation software could see users incur significantly higher bills, and mobile networks struggle with the volume of data being transmitted.

Arieso reached the conclusion after analysing the data usage of one million smartphone owners on an unnamed European network.
