EssentialMac was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at one of the new cases from good people at mumu a few months ago leaving us more than impressed with build quality alongside some extremely detailed finishing of their wooden iPhone cases. In a first for Australia, Hanrob Pet Hotels will today launch PetSkype so owners can make a video call to talk to and interact with their pets. The hotels, at Heathcote and Sydney Airport, also allow for pre-recorded videos and digital photos so owners can keep in touch with pets. Owners can arrange a time to call the hotel and ask to speak to their pet before staff take an iPad into a room to make the Skype connection.

Thanks to the #SPW for the heads up.
The iPod movement passed me by. From the music was and wasn’t just about listening to the music it was about the DJ moments in between the tracks and so, for a while at least, I did without having an iPod. Then I discovered podcasts, along comes the iPhone, and things were set to change from then onwards. And things got even better with Instacast.

The virginmedia.com site was taken down “for a short period of time” on tuesday by the Anonymous group. Looks like Talk Talk are on the radar next but are probably better prepared.

In no way shape, or form is this a good thing for the general netizens of the internet. It’s not the fact ISP’s are now forced to block access to the PirateBay but more in which the way the government passed a bill to enable this to happen. So in the spirit of the free Internet here’s some hints and tips on how to get around virgin media or your ISP blocking the Pirate Bay.
Recently in the podcast I had a good old rant about the lack of proper information when people simply state the new iPad is a data chewer. In the UK we won’t be getting anything like LTE (4g) internet at least until the latter end of 2013.
With that in mind we’ve gone through some of the most popular mobile providers in the uk to compare their data tarrifs to help you understand the deals out there.

Bartending : Memoirs of an Apple Genius promises to give an insiders look as to what life is like behind the glass panelled buildings of Apple from the perspective of Stephen, an ex genius bar apple staffer, who’s written a book on working the front line. I’m taking a sneak peek at a few chapters now and it’s an insightful look. There’s not much more I can say yet as I’m under NDA till release date of the 10th April. Good news everyone the NDA has been lifted so discussion is now allowed.
Apple is taking very seriously the Wi-Fi problem that’s happening on some of the first released iPad 3’s. If you head over to the apple support site you can see the problems that will trigger a replacement or in Apple language “a capture”.

The company that makes Blackberry smart phones says it is withdrawing from the consumer market to concentrate on business customers.
Source : BBC News
Gracious in defeat
. Although somewhat odd just after they launched a high end consumer product in Harrods 6 days ago source : crackberry. Strikes me as a company that’s long been at odds with itself, never taking the Bold move (pardon the pun) to find its own direction in the consumer market.
According to figures in the last quarter rim shipped 11.1 million units but at 30% or more less than the panned average selling price (ASP). Apple in the same time shipped 37.04 million iPhones (source : cnet without having to slash prices.

I might have lifted that comment from a profilic iPad jailbreaker @chpwn which is odd as we barely cover anything jailbreakesq but it’s true. It’s made even more so by the fact that the people over at Wired.com have put the “overheating” iPad 3 in perspective amongst several other tech sites.
So in the wake of all these claims that the new iPad will burn your childern and act as a “Penis Iron” I decided to do some very unscientific journalism. My first stop was Google where I did a very quick search to ask “What temperature does skin starts to burn at.”
