Could iWatch actually be the iTV, Apple TV? It’s plausible if a little far fetched but could iWatch be the code name for the Apple TV. What if it was a way to throw people off the scent? Granted we’ve already seen patents pertaining to a watch like device banded about but it would be interesting if this was the case
It might not be THE Apple TV that the tech world is obsessed with but there will be a refreshed Apple TV thanks to details from an FCC filing.
Sporting the model number A1469 it comes in at 4.22mm smaller than the current-generation Apple TV. All the paper work seems legitimate and filed the FCC in December 2012. and with the third-generation Apple TV being released on March 7, 2012 we could well be due for an update.
Released on March 7, 2012, so the time is right for it to be refreshed.
Update: Anandtech has peeked through the filings and the source code, finding a new single antenna setup that follows the design of other iDevices, and reference to an updated A5X SoC at its heart.
It’s not THE apple TV but the Apple TV, you know the small black box that we can purchase just so we know what we’re talking about here. As rumour season has finally climaxed and disappeared it’s now time to speculate on what the little black box may have in store for us in the future.

Todays neat program comes from Get iPlayer Automator that let’s you download any TV or Radio show over on the BBC iPlayer, 4od or iTV players, rather than dealing with a limited time to view and watch. Once a show is downloaded a nice thumbnail is created and the show put into your iTunes library. Version 1.8.1 Has been released. See the Updated UI at the bottom at this post.

In a quiet and unannounced fashion Apple has added Hulu Plus to their “hobby” Apple TV. I’ve yet to try this in the UK but performing a software update for the Apple TV then restarting Hulu Plus will magically appear.

Netflix is a popular DVD streaming site in the USA but has a downside of needing some sort of verification that you are from the good old USA. It all starts with a pre paid credit card or you can use a UK one as I found out recently.
TV tuners are plentiful ranging from cheap and cheerful USB gadgets to more expensive network-enabled devices such as the Slingbox range or Elgato’s Netstream. However, the Tizi is the first TV tuner I’ve seen that is exclusively designed for the iOS platform.
Elgato pretty much have the lions share of the TV tuner market and now they give us a Wi-Fi tv tuner for iOS and Apple hardware. In short this nifty little box is a freeview tv tuner that sends free to air tv channels direct to your iOS device.
