Friday 26th August : iPhone 4s Leaked Pictures

So it;s not actually the iPhone 4s but alleged pictures of the case for the 4s.  The pictures speak for themselves showing a lack of a home button and moving of the antenna.

Wednesday : An All New Mac

What a way to start the week with sites announcing that a source from Japanese news and rumors website release the news that Apple will release a new product.  All that’s been said is that it will be distinctly different.  Well thanks for that, a weight lifted from my mind and a new product from Apple will be released. Next we can all rest easy after Ford announce they will make a new car.

Tuesday : The Cheap iPhone4

Rumors abound now about a cheap iPhone 4 coming with 8gb storage.  This seems semi plausible as having a handset priced in the Android pricing sector would certainly stir things up

Monday : iPhone 5 Release Date For October

The October date has been chucked around more than once by AT&T and other “sources” and this one makes sense.  A traditional product announcement in the month of September and then release in October

Coffee shops and mac users.  The 2 go together hand in hand and Starbucks lead the way with their partnership with apple.  Now this loving bond has been extended further with a free iOS app with your drink.

Those of you who opt for the Venti sized drinks will also get a card with a code allowing you to download an iOS app for free.  It’s not any old application but a set app per week.

This week it’s the turn of Shazam Encore which would set you back $5.99 in the states.

According to sources this officially starts on the 23rd August but we aren’t sure if this will apply to the UK.  If you are in the uk please let us know your findings.

I do love the small Bluetooth apple keyboard but I’m not keen on batteries or the fact it doesn’t’ have a number pad.

The Logitech K750 steps up to the plate with the added feature of being solar powered.  This isn’t the first solar powered keyboard as, many years ago, I owned a Cherry keyboard that gave me many years of service till an unfortunate accident with a cup of tea.

It really does look that good btw even with the logitech logo emblazoned on top to let you know it’s not actually an Apple device.

Like the genuine Apple boards it’s packed to the rafters with the usual array of keys for brightness, volume, expose and mission control.

To allay battery anxiety, the logitech K750 comes with a free app to tell you how much juice is left and to let you know that it’s too dark for charging (i.e stop the late night browsing sessions).  The one downside is that this isn’t a bluetooth device so it will be taking up a USB slot for it’s wifi receiver for the keyboard.

The Logitech K750 Solar Powered Wireless Keyboard is available now from all good stockists (and the bad ones as well 😀 )

Orange Free Movie Thursday

Apple and Orange Giving Away FREE movies.

Orange Free Movie Apple and Orange Giving Away FREE movies.

Those of you in the UK on the Orange mobile network will be more than  aware of Orange wednesday’s where it’s buy one and get one free to goto participating cinema’s on the cheap.

Now it’s going one further it seems by teaming up with iTunes to offer a free movie. Orange’s new website, FilmToGo, lets customers grab a film a week to watch using PC, laptop or iOS device.

Downsides are that films are only playable for 30 days after receiving them and it will cost you a 35p text message to get the redemption code. Orange customers text FILMTOGO to 85060.

I sent my text to that number and got an immediate reply with my download code an instructions to goto the FilmToGo website. However the codes are only valid on a Thursday ONLY but they do offer a handy e-mail reminder service.

Next Thursday is “The Wrestler” and that has to be worth 35p of anyone’s money.

Apple’s iCloud is now live (for devs at least)

Hot on the heels of the 4.3.3 update for Apple tv, iCloud has just gone live with pricing details.

Apple iCloud Pricing

Along with launching the new beta service, Apple has also revealed its pricing strategy for additional storage on the cloud service. Apple will charge $20 for 10GB, $40 for 20GB and $100 for 50GB a year.

iCloud is Apple’s take on the cloud service. After lambasting employees over the failure of MobileMe, Apple is looking to get it right with iCloud. With Apple revealing the new service for the first time, it would indicate that the service is nearing public availability.

There have been many rumors about when the new service will go live. It is believed that the service will be launched along side the iPhone 5 which will hit retail later this fall. It is unclear if the new device will launch in September or November.

For those who are waiting anxiously for Apple’s latest service, this is a step in the right direction. With iCloud, Apple will kick off its cloud based service that offers many features to entice the user into placing their trust in Apple for securing their personal content.

Apple Thunderbolt Display

Apple unveils ‘World’s First Thunderbolt Display’

It’s been a busy week in the Apple camp. First there was Lion, the Macbook being dropped and today we have what Apple calls the “World’s First Thunderbolt Display”. The 27-inch Thunderbolt Display has an LED-backlit, 2560-by-1440 pixel, 16:9, in-plane swtiching (IPS) screen, which Apple says has a brightness of 375 cd/m2 and a 1000:1 contrast ratio.

Google+ for iOS released

According to a Google+ post by Vic Gundotra, VP at Google, the official Google+ app for iOS should be rolling out “in the next few hours.” The app is actually available now, at the iTunes App Store.

Google+, Google’s contender in the Social Network war, was released only a few weeks ago and is already garnering millions of users and critical acclaim. The question of whether or not it can beat Facebook is on everybody’s minds, but it’s way too soon to know for sure. However, getting a timely release of an official iOS app is definitely a step in the right direction. It’s certainly the most successful social release by Google since they tried and failed (in most places) to create a social space for themselves with the ill-fated Orkut. A few more flops down the line, and it looks like Google might actually be getting its act together on this important front.

We haven’t seen any word about a Google+ iPad app, but we’re pretty sure that will be soon to follow. Facebook took its sweet time releasing an official iPad app, and Google will certainly want to cash in on that shortcoming. Google+ has tried to find ways to let people import their contacts and social connections from services like Google, but Facebook has always been conservative about letting their data go to other companies, and has tried to block Google from taking their data (and possibly users).
