Essential Apple Podcast 292: AI image search with CYME

This week Simon and Nick are joined by Mattieu Kopp co-founder and CTO of CYME.io, makers of Avalanche (a tool for migrating photo libraries from App to App), plus Peakto, Find My Snaps, and since we recorded this Peakto for Lightroom, which are amazing AI/ML powered tools for searching and organising your photos in clever and interesting ways. After discussing that they all take a wander through some of the news from the week, including an M series chip flaw and a medical world’s first.

Sorry there’s no show! Fatal Hardware error!

You have probably all read this elsewhere already… but if you haven’t and have come here in search of a lovely new Essential Apple Podcast edition you are unfortunately out of luck!. Last week just after Nick and I finished recording the show my microphone suffered a fatal encounter with my wife’s foot (purely accidentally). Despite the image what actually happened was it ripped the USB cable out of the little box of tricks on the end of the cable… I ordered a replacement but Amazon/Royal Mail let me down and failed to deliver in time for Sunday and a new show. If it doesn’t appear in the next couple of days I shall be buying another and sending the last to arrive back! Either way hopefully the show will be back to normal for next week.

Essential Apple Podcast 133: The Donkey… Ehh, he was not pleased

Well what the actual hell? I take a week off and the internet goes berserk! Apple and Qualcomm settle, Intel drop 5G modems, Samsung Fold review units are a bust (literally), Samsung “delay” its launch as a result. Jony gives an interview and says he lives in the future, Tim Cook says he believes in doing the right thing, Apple get into a row about ‘screen time’ apps, plus buckets more stuff happened. I am joined by Nick (@spligosh) Riley to take a gander at some of it… (and apologies to Bill Bailey for stealing his line from the Pubbe Gagge)

Essential Apple Podcast 76: In Conversation with Jeff Gamet of TMO

This week saw another deadly school shooting in the US and whilst we don’t want to dwell on that event we felt it appropriate to just mention our horror and sorrow at another senseless tragedy.
Meanwhile we are joined by the esteemed Jeff Gamet, Managing Editor at The Mac Observer and co-host of the Apple Context Machine Podcast to talk about the HomePod, “white-ring gate”, Twitter killing its Mac client and more.

Essential Apple Podcast Special: The Kelly Guimont Show

On the week where Uncle Tim had an iPhone 8 in his pocket, Accu Weather got caught out, Elon Musk warned us about “autonomous weapons” and a leak that surprised no-one revealed the CIA spy on everyone, including their security “partners”; we are joined by Kelly Guimont of The Mac Observer and App Camp 4 Girls fame, and, well, let’s just say the show notes went out the window and this is what happened instead!

Essential Apple Show 21: 1Password’s Chris De Jabet (pronounced Day-zhah-bay)

Now that all the fuss has died down, the world has come to terms with the demise of the headphone jack we can now start looking fowards the iPhone 10 and continue to wonder why has Apple left the Mac Pro untouched for 400 days.
